To blog or not to blog, is that the question? If your goal is to have massive amount of traffic to your business website, you are going to need a centralized website. This website is sometimes referred to as your Nerve Center because this is the hub where everything is supported. Most business owners choose to create a blog for this purpose, and in having doing so, have generated massive MLM success.
Yet, how does blogging get you MLM success? When I first started marketing online, this was one of my biggest questions. I didn’t understand what blogging was, and I really didn’t understand why anyone would want to read another person’s blog. After a few months online, I realized I wasn’t alone in this thinking. I think this perception came about because when blogging first became widely known, blogs were used mostly for personal use. They were a good way for family and friends to keep up with each other, as well as a good outlet for people to “let off steam” in their writing. Yet the blogging world has evolved, and business owners, especially those in the MLM industry, soon jumped onto this new trend and found it very successful.
Blogging is a great way to build your presence online, and isn’t that the overall goal when marketing online? Think about when you first encounter someone on the web through social media, or any other website they may have. At first you really know nothing about them. If you enjoyed what this person had to say in their article, or in your online conversation, you are going to want to find out more about who they are and what they do.
In today’s technology age, if a person wanted to know more about you, they most likely won’t pick up the phone and call. They will search for you online. The first place a person will usually go is Facebook. This is a great site where they will learn an overview about you both socially and professionally. If you have set up a good profile on Facebook, you will certainly have a link for someone to learn more about you. This link should take them to your nerve center – a.k.a Blog. If someone isn’t on Facebook, then they will choose to search for your name on Google or another search engine. The first thing that should pop up when someone searches your name should be your blog (if you have it optimized well).
It’s important to understand the concept of what a blog is actually used for before ever setting one up. Your blog should look clean and professional, yet very inviting. You want to convey the image that you are a leader in your industry, yet you are approachable. One of the most important areas to include in your blog is an opt-in. This is an area where visitors can input their contact information, in exchange for some value they are looking for. The purpose of the opt-in is two fold. First it gives you a name of someone who is interested in what you have, and a way to follow back up with them. Secondly, the value you give to your prospect can help create a little bit of trust with them since you were willing to give away helpful information.
Having a proper blog set up to be used in this manner can help you create leads, and build a successful MLM or any other type of business. Somewhere on your blog you will have links to your primary business(es). People can learn more about what you do, and become interested in your business well before you ever have any contact with them. This is the power of a well built blog. By having a successful blog, you are introduced to interested, pre-qualified leads. This picks up the pace for which you can build your business.
Now that you have a foundation of what a blog is, what it’s used for, and why you need one, look for my next post. In part 2, I will go over exactly HOW you are supposed to do this.
